Top tier Terry Pratchett. Possibly not the best introduction (Mort or Equal Rites maybe?) but one where Pratchett really feels like he's enjoying stretching the possibilities of the setting as a way for thinking and working though big subjects. Quietly angry, genuinely funny, deeply humane.
